A Message From Heather

Welcome to Kittamaqundi Community!

We are an independent, Christian community of about 125 people,
worshiping,
laughing, praying, crying and singing together in the
heart of Columbia, Maryland.

Our community is just a couple of years younger than Columbia itself.
Founded in 1969, KC began when members of the Church of the Savior
in Washington, D.C. came to start a new kind of church in the new city
that was being dreamed of in farmland between Baltimore and Washington.

We renovated a barn and started to worship in a way that invited a lot of community
participation and creativity, and we built a church rooted in small groups,
committed to supporting each other as we follow Christ’s call to discipleship.

We come from a variety of religious backgrounds - Catholic, Baptist, Lutheran,
Unitarian, Christian Scientist and just about everything else.
What pulls us together is our common commitment to ground our lives
in a series of Christian practices - prayer, scripture study, worship, giving
and small group fellowship, which deepen and renew our faith daily.

We also are committed to the outward expression of our faith - responding with
compassion to those in need, offering hospitality, and living in
reconciled community with each other and with God’s world.

I hope you’ll come and meet us in person!

Yours sincerely,
Heather Kirk-Davidoff, Enabling Minister
