Oliver's Carriage House was built around 1830 on a huge private estate owned by Robert Oliver, the son of a wealthy Baltimore merchant. His family used the estate as a summer residence, and the Carriage House as a barn and stable.

Since the mid-1970s, it has been the home of Kittamaqundi Community Church.

Inside
, you'll see the original stone walls and exposed wooden beams. Outside, the tree-lined grounds, colorful gardens and landscaped brick patio add to this historic building's charm.

Kittamaqundi Community is a place where everyone is welcome, regardless of race, religious affiliation or sexual orientation.

Full Package $2,500

This option gives you unlimited use of our building and grounds, with no time limit on the event. You may access the building on the evening before the event for a rehearsal, decorating or other preparation. With our spacious backyard, you may choose to have an outdoor ceremony, or have both the ceremony and reception inside. Your rental includes chairs and dining tables to accommodate up to 125 people, additional tables for food presentation, restrooms/dressing rooms on both levels, a large sanctuary/reception room upstairs with stone fireplace, another reception room downstairs - also with stone fireplace, a full kitchen with refrigerator, stove and two ovens, a grand piano, an elevator with handicapped access from our patio, and plenty of on-street and off-street parking.*

Ceremony Only $1,000

This option is for the couple who want an extraordinary location for just their ceremony. It gives you unlimited use of our building and grounds, with no time limit on the event. You may access the building on the evening before the event for a rehearsal, decorating or other preparation. With our spacious backyard, you may choose to have an outdoor ceremony, or have your ceremony inside. Your rental includes chairs to accommodate up to 125 people, restrooms/dressing rooms on both levels, a large sanctuary upstairs with stone fireplace, a welcoming/receiving area downstairs - also with stone fireplace, a grand piano, an elevator with handicapped access from our patio, and plenty of on-street and off-street parking.

4-Hour Rental $2,000

This option is for the couple who want an extraordinary location for just their reception, or who want a less-expensive alternative for both the ceremony and reception. It gives you the use of our entire building and grounds for a 4-hour period. With our spacious backyard, you may choose to have an outdoor ceremony, or have both the ceremony and reception inside. Your rental includes chairs and dining tables to accommodate up to 125 people, additional tables for food presentation, restrooms/dressing rooms on both levels, a large sanctuary/reception room upstairs with stone fireplace, another reception room downstairs - also with stone fireplace, a full kitchen with refrigerator, stove and two ovens, a grand piano, an elevator with handicapped access from our patio, and plenty of on-street and off-street parking. Although the event is restricted to four hours, we do allow limited extra time for set-up beforehand.*

Other Events

$2,000 for parties, music concerts or other large events. This option gives you unlimited use of our building and grounds, with no time limit on the event. Your rental includes chairs and dining tables to accommodate up to 125 people, additional tables for food presentation, restrooms/dressing rooms on both levels, a large sanctuary/reception room upstairs with stone fireplace, another reception room downstairs - also with stone fireplace, a full kitchen with refrigerator, stove and two ovens, a grand piano, an elevator with handicapped access from our patio, and plenty of on-street and off-street parking. This option includes cleanup by our staff. Event must conclude by 11 p.m.

(15% discount on the above option if your guest list has fewer than 50 people.)

$300 for a one-time meeting, class, workshop, seminar, recital or other non-party event. You are responsible for cleanup after the event. Event must conclude by 11 p.m.

10% of net proceeds up to $200 for a charity fundraising event. You are responsible for cleanup after the event. Event must conclude by 11 p.m.

$100 for a funeral or memorial service. You are responsible for cleanup after the event.

$ Negotiable for rentals that take place on a recurring basis.

A refundable $500 security deposit is required for all rental options, in addition to the rental fee.
Please note: our building capacity is strictly limited to 125 people by State Fire Code. We cannot allow any modification of that capacity.

The rental deposit is refundable until 30 days before the contract date. If the renter cancels after that time, the deposit will be forfeited unless the building is subsequently rented for an equal value on the same date. If it is rented for a lesser value, a prorated amount of the deposit will be refunded.

What's included in the rental?

The upstairs features a grand piano, a stone fireplace, a loft balcony, two restrooms and a kitchen with refrigerator, stove and two ovens. There are tables and banquet chairs to seat 125 people, and additional tables for food presentation. The lower level features additional restrooms/dressing rooms, a children's nursery and a welcoming/receiving area with stone fireplace. This level also has folding chairs that can be used outside, if desired. The building has an elevator with access on each floor. There are several parking lot spaces designated for the handicapped, and ramp access to our patio and the elevator lobby. Please note: We do not provide linens, tableware or glassware.

What about parking?

There is adequate space in our parking lot and on the streets adjacent to the building to accommodate all of your guests.

Are there accommodations for the handicapped?

The building has an elevator with access on each floor. There are several spaces in our parking lot designated for the handicapped, and ramp access to our patio and the elevator lobby.

May we choose who will perform the wedding ceremony?

Yes, that decision is up to you. Kittamaqundi Community is a non-denominational ecumenical church where everyone is welcome. We do not impose restrictions on who may perform your ceremony.

Can you help us find a caterer?

Here is a list of some area caterers. We make no recommendations - the choice is yours.

Are alcoholic beverages permitted?

Yes, beer and wine (including champagne) are allowed.

Are there restrictions on how we can decorate?

There are no restrictions on decorating, except regarding the placement of lighted candles.

What is the smoking policy?

Smoking is not allowed inside the building at any time. If there is evidence of smoking inside the building, your security deposit will be forfeited. People may smoke outside, as long as cigarette butts are not discarded on the brick patio, steps, sidewalks or grounds. If you expect smokers to attend, you should bring containers for cigarette butts.

Any there other restrictions?

We do not allow public use of the microphones in our audio system. However, you may use our multi-changer CD player, or you may want to connect your Ipod to our speaker system. Also, you may bring in whatever other equipment you need - including microphones and speakers. You also may choose to bring in a portable dance floor, although dancing on our carpet is permitted.

After the event, who is responsible for cleanup?

All wedding rental options include cleanup by our staff. You are responsible only for removing any decorations, furniture or other items brought into the church. However, you will be charged for any damage to the building, its contents (including stains on carpets) or the grounds.

If the building is in satisfactory condition after the rental, the $500 security deposit will be refunded in full. If not, the renter will be charged part or all of the security deposit to cover the cost of cleaning and/or repairing damage.

There are additional guidelines for outdoor events (please ask us about them).

How do we arrange for a rental?

To schedule a building tour or to inquire about available dates, please e-mail our rental coordinator at: kcrental@yahoo.com. Tours are scheduled by appointment only. Please do not call the church for information or to schedule an appointment - use this e-mail address for all rental requests.

NOTE: A 50% deposit is required to hold your reservation. The balance of the rental fee, plus the $500 security deposit, must be received no later than one month before the event. If all fees are not paid on time, or if a renter's check is returned for insufficient funds, the event will be subject to cancelation.

Directions: From I-95 or US 29, take the exit for MD. Route 175 west (toward Columbia's Town Center and the Mall in Columbia). At the second stoplight after US 29, turn left onto Vantage Point Rd. Go up the hill and take the second left onto Leaf Treader Way. Then take an immediate right into our parking lot.
